From the CEO
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the CVS website at what is an undoubtedly pivotal time for businesses in the UK.
The business rates landscape is undergoing a period of change, and while some may be daunted, here at CVS we relish the opportunities that the changes will bring.
Following the last revaluation back in 2010, the 2017 Rating List formally opened on Saturday 1st April 2017.
The Government has introduced a new business rates appeals system to coincide with the new Rating List. How your property is valued and how your business rates are calculated remains the same – the key difference is in what happens if you think your business rates bill is inaccurate and want to lodge an appeal.
This is where a new process called ‘Check. Challenge. Appeal.’ comes into play. The CCA system will create a range of barriers and disincentives, such as fees and technical requirements.
The reform has introduced an element of uncertainty to the business rates process and puts an even greater responsibility on to you as the ratepayer to ensure you are paying the correct amount.
More than ever there’s a need for skilled and experienced support to help you to understand your rates bill, how it has been assessed and to help you challenge successfully where you have grounds to contest the valuation.
Our specialist knowledge and expertise in business rates helps us to save you money, and our client centric philosophy ensures you are kept well informed throughout the process.
CVS is regulated by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and has lodged over 13% of all appeals in our market place to date. A nationwide network of specialist and experienced Chartered Surveyors put us in the enviable position of being able to offer local experience and knowledge to businesses.
Whatever the future holds one thing is for certain, through driving professionalism, innovation and client satisfaction levels and in turn generating Client savings of over £700 million to date, we will continue to have a profound and positive impact on UK businesses.
We look forward to working with you.
Mark Rigby, Chief Executive
