A Recipe for Success!

Established more than 40 years ago, H.T.Webb & Co. Ltd is one of the finest suppliers and distributors of cheeses and related products, to the major multiples, wholesalers, delicatessens, specialist outlets, food service, airlines and food manufacturers. They have a turnover of £68m and 280 employees all dedicated to the cause. The company was subject to a management buy-out in 1998 by two long serving directors, who along with their key support from their Finance Director (Lynne Bancroft) and Operations Director (David Earps), have become a well focused strategic operation, intent on diversifying and adding extra services, including the recent acquisition of a Goats Cheese producer, which has subsequently become award winning in its own right.

A fundamental part of any business strategy is of course in minimising unnecessary costs and reducing overheads. By instructing CVS to contest the Rateable Value of the property, they can now continue to fund the diversification of their products to continually add to the growth of the company.

REDUCTION

CVS established a fair assessment on the property following negotiations by CVS’s surveyor, Roger Simmons FRICS, achieving a reduction on the property of £20,000 which was fully backdated.

The effect of the reduction has resulted in substantial savings of around £30,000 to date with future savings in the 2000 list amounting to approximately £9000 per annum. All in all HT Webb will have benefited from the services of CVS to the tune of around £50,000.
The site itself was situated amongst a group of modern industrial buildings, which have been valued at a basic price per square metre, and well supported with evidence to back up the Valuation Offices price. Roger Simmons sought not only to reduce this price, but also to obtain all the necessary allowances available to reduce the figure. His tenacious attitude was fundamental in this success, which combined with his in depth knowledge of values, resulted in this fantastic saving.
